Taste The Difference! Free Range Chickens and Turkeys.
|
So why bother with free range poultry? One taste and you'll know why. Free range birds are a pleasant change from the store bought variety. Not only are
they raised locally, their flavor and texture cannot be matched!
CHICKEN - Our chickens
are brought to the farm at 1 day of age, brooded for 3 weeks, then put on pasture. During
this time they are provided with fresh daily
greens, corn based feed and the many bugs and larvae that they forage.
The end result is a lean and flavorful bird which can only be produced during the grazing season from May to October. When ready, the birds
are brought to a state inspected
facility where they are processed, flash frozen and packaged.
TURKEYS - Turkey chicks are brought to the farm at 1 day of age and brooded for 4 to 6 weeks before being put on range. Being much better foragers than the chickens, they will easily consume 60% to 70% of their diet on pasture! We bring them to our butcher at 18 weeks of age and generally weigh between 12 to 17 lbs dressed. If you have never had honest to goodness free range turkey, you owe it to yourself to give it a try! We raise a limited number of birds for the holiday season and usually sell out several weeks before Thanksgiving. We recommend preordering as early as possible.
